Raquel Barrios is a Mexican visual artist working primarily in mixed media. She builds layered pieces from reclaimed fabrics and papers, oil sticks, and acrylics, using assemblage and collage to construct new scenarios — carried by the idea that it is okay to rebuild ourselves over and over again.
She holds a BFA from the University of Guanajuato and undertook pre-college studies at the Pratt Institute in New York. Her work has been recognized with Mexico's Young Creators fellowship and shown in solo and group exhibitions across Mexico, the United States, Ireland, and Nigeria, including the Contemporary Art Biennial in Lagos.
