Diego Cortina was born in Mexico City, where he trained in fine arts at INBA and studied graphic design and photography at UNUM, later refining his watercolor technique under Maestro Demetrio Llordén. This layered formation — plastic arts, design, and photography — shows through in his work's precise construction alongside its painterly freedom.
Over a career spanning solo shows at venues including El Albardón and Torre del Reloj in Polanco, and group exhibitions from the Feria de Arte Tecamachalco to Maremagnum in Barcelona, Cortina has moved fluidly between watercolor, oil, and mixed media. His paintings suspend geometric shapes — triangles, houses, fragmented figures — inside billowing, cloud-like forms, building compositions that feel both engineered and weightless. He currently lives and works in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where he continues to paint.
